In 2003, Materials & Applications began with the idea that creative experimentation should take place in public space. Since then, M_A has produced more than 20 site-specific installations — each of them inscribed into the landscape of Los Angeles. These installations are always free, unscripted and unsupervised. All of this work happens through a non-commercial, non-profit organization run by volunteer directors, artists, and architects. M_A is only able to continue with the support of our community, friends, and family.
